Unassuming and monolithic on the exterior, this home belies what is found beyond the front door. As soon as you step over the threshold you are transported into a home that is interesting, vibrant and exudes atmosphere.
Having a strong connection to the garden was high on the list of requirements for this retried couple. As avid gardeners the view from within the house was of great importance and the garden was designed to become an extension of the home. The floor to ceiling expanses of glass with aluminum framing were designed to give the look and feel of steel framing. The brightness and greenness of the outside brings the darker and moodier colours of the interior to life.
The clients wanted a robust, dark polished concrete floor and have paired this with a raw steel fireplace and rust coloured kitchen cabinetry.
The library is painted in a deep navy blue and pairs beautifully with the warm oak timber shelving.
